Homemade Baby Food
Little Miss is almost 6 months old, thus begins baby food preparation mode!
Day 1 of food prep:
- Bought 2 organic apples from Fred Meyer (confirming their PLU number started with a 9 and had 5 digits - thank you Nichole for your blog tips!!)
- Peeled the apples with a potato peeler
- Cored and sliced the apples into small chunks
- Poured apple chunks and ~2 cups of water into pan
- Boiled and steamed until tender
- Strained
- Mashed
- Poured into blender with 1/4 cup water from the pan
- Blended for about a minute
- Poured into ice cube tray to freeze! (each cube = .75oz)
Total time ~ 20 minutes
The consistance was right on! Not sure if I'll be so lucky with the next batch - plums! When Marissa turns 6 months I plan to start with fresh bananas, move onto sweet potatoes and so forth! Wish us luck!! :)
The final product (prior to freezing):
